This multiple sclerosis is a disease condition basically affecting the central nervous system.
This is an autoimmune-based disease affecting many persons through out this globe. The type of affection is related to the nerve sheath called myelin and is often present as a long-standing or chronic disease.
Hence, this disease is said to be of chronic in nature. Swelling is seen in this disease condition in the affected tissues.
In 1868 only, Charcot explained this problem affecting man.
Epidemiological survey reveals that persons of North European descent are highly prone for this disease. Females in particular are highly affected by this multiple neurological disease.
The onset of this disease condition is about thirty-four years. However up to fifty years, the incidence is highly noticed.
The main cause is the deficient immune system, which causes the demyelination, and hence, the transmission of nerve signals is highly affected due to the disruption in the pathway of signals.
Genetic causes may be ascribed but still this is under serious research.
